What to Do if Your Pool Cover Falls in The Pool

Economy Pools Blog

One of the more common questions we receive here at Economy Pools of Florida involves pool covers. While they do a terrific job of protecting your pool, Some covers do have a tendency of falling in due to wear and tear, weight, holes and more. While this doesn’t signal the end of the world, there are still a number of things you will need to check for. Read on for some important advice on what to do if your pool cover falls into the pool.

Grab a Rake

First, remove any debris that is floating on the pool cover. Do this while the cover is in the pool. One handy tool to use is a leaf rake. This type of pool rake has a deep, built-in net that lets you grab most debris with ease.

Take a Good Hard Look

Once you have skimmed away as much dirt and gunk as you can, it is time to get the pool cover out of the pool. After removal, perform a thorough inspection of the pool water. In a perfect world, you should only have a few leaves to get out and your pool should be fine. In the real world, you will have to see how much dirt and debris are now lining the bottom of your pool. If you cannot tell how dirty the pool is, our top-notch team of pool experts will be more than happy to perform an inspection for you.

Make The Bottom of Your Pool Shine

An alternative to draining the whole pool is to vacuum it. As long as the correct settings are made there should be no real problems getting leaves and other debris out of the pool. If you do not have a vacuum, we’ll be happy to assist.

Getting the PH balance back up to normal levels is paramount. Keep in mind, it can sometimes take quite a while to do without expert help. At Economy Pools, our dedicated cleaning team can put you at ease while restoring your pool’s chemical balance levels.
